Arrival Process at KHI

  1. Immigration: Separate queues for Pakistani and foreign nationals. Have passport, visa/e-visa, and completed arrival card. Processing: 10-30 minutes (can be slow during peak hours when multiple flights arrive).
  2. Baggage claim: Can be slow — 20-40 minutes typical. Check screens for belt numbers. Trolleys free.
  3. Customs: Green or Red channel. Standard rules — declare if carrying over \$10,000.
  4. Arrivals hall: Large hall with SIM counters, exchange, ATMs, taxi desks, and meet-and-greet area.

Tip: Karachi is hot and humid — have light clothing accessible. The AC in the airport is strong but the heat hits when you step outside.

First Steps After Arrival

  1. SIM card: Buy a local SIM at the airport (Jazz, Zong, or Telenor). Requires passport copy. Data plans start from PKR 500 (~$1.80) for 10-15 GB.
  2. Money exchange: Exchange counters are available in the arrivals hall. Rates are fair but slightly below market. ATMs accept Visa/Mastercard.
  3. Transport: Book a Careem ride from the app for fair pricing, or use the airport taxi counter.
