Track Pakistan Passport Application Status
Check the current status of your Pakistan passport application using your token number or receipt. Multiple tracking methods are available depending on where you applied.
Online Tracking Methods
1. DGIP Online Tracking Portal
The Directorate General of Immigration & Passports (DGIP) maintains an online tracking system at dgip.gov.pk. Enter your token number (found on your receipt) to check the current status of your application. The system shows whether your passport is: received, under process, printed, dispatched, or ready for collection.
2. Embassy/Consulate Direct Contact
If you applied through a Pakistan embassy abroad, you can also contact the embassy directly with your receipt number. Many embassies provide status updates by phone or email. Response times vary — busy missions like London and Dubai may take 2-3 days to respond to status enquiries.
3. SMS Tracking
Some Pakistan passport offices offer SMS-based tracking. Send your token number to the designated SMS number (available on your receipt). You will receive an automated reply with the current status. This service availability varies by location.
Expected Processing Times
| Service | Domestic (Pakistan) | Abroad (Embassy) |
|---|---|---|
| Standard (Normal) | 2-3 weeks | 4-6 weeks |
| Urgent | 1 week | 2-3 weeks |
| Executive (Fast Track) | 3-5 days | Not available at all missions |
| Emergency Travel Document | Same day | 1-2 days |
Times are estimates. Actual processing depends on security verification, printing capacity, and embassy workload. Applications during peak seasons (summer, Eid, Hajj) may take longer.
Common Status Messages
- "Application Received" — Your application has been logged in the system and is awaiting processing
- "Under Process" — Your application is being verified and processed (security checks, biometric verification)
- "Sent for Printing" — Verification complete, passport sent to the printing facility in Islamabad
- "Printed" — Your passport has been printed and is being dispatched to the issuing office/embassy
- "Dispatched" — Passport has been sent to the embassy or collection point
- "Ready for Collection" — Your passport is ready to be picked up. Bring your receipt and valid ID
Delays and What to Do
If your application exceeds the expected processing time:
- Contact the embassy where you applied with your receipt/token number
- Request a written status update via email
- If applied domestically, visit the passport office with your receipt
- Delays are common during peak periods and when additional security verification is required
- If you have an urgent travel need, ask about emergency travel document options
